Future improvements for TTSKIN. Poll opened

Hi guys.
After the last release (v081014.2115), I'm wondering if I can improve the TTSkin more than this.
As you know I really don't like to beef it up with a lot of messy and silly appliances that can distract yourself from the right attention you should give to driving.
I think that a Route Navigator should be first of all an help to the driver, very intuitive, easy, clean to be immediately understood, and not something "cool" that you have to look like a movie.
So I would prefer to avoid silly coloured cars, or stupid season color change.
But I would ask you which feature is really needed by you. What you really want I include in TTSkin?

Please, answer to my request, and let me know.
Drive carefully.

Gliko.

Hey Gliko, many thanks for certainly the best skin! the only thing that makes me now a bit melancholy - I have now "built-in" PNA navi with 480x234, and cannot use your amazing skin :(
Is it possible to ask you to make edition for that resolution, I think many people would be very grateful for this.
If talk about the nuances, from the standpoint of "buil-in" device, it's not so important to see in the lower right corner battery and signal status, it seems to me that the second next maneuver (as it was realized in previous version of your skin) would be more important.
Once again, thank you, and humbly hope that you can find the time to make happy even greater number of users of Igo8! with best wishes from Moscow, krotto

Hi Gliko,

I love your skin for i780 (320x320). Thank you for this. However, as you may know, may i780-users are using RealVGA in 96dpi-mode in order to run other skins like Manilla2 (see XDA) - unfortunately in this resolution, TTSkin behaves a bit strange (it's natural since it's not running in native 128dpi-mode. Have you tried RealVGA with 96dpi? A version of TTSkin for RealVGA with 96dpi-support would be great. Thx for your work and take care. Rgds. Mike

Hi, would it be possible to add the "display map" on and off feature above a certain speed, i.e. with the large symbol on the whole screen for the next step ? It distracts less, especially when on the motorways. Thanks a lot, L.

Monster67: I designed my TTSkin on a i780 at 96 dpi, so believe me: it WILL work :-)

For driving your skin is the best. For preparing route it lacks of some shortcuts like other skins provide them. I think you should publish your todo list at this moment and then according to this we could propose new ones.

Gliko Gliko said...

That's interesting. Which kind of shortcuts are your referring to? I could think to add them.
Let me know.

Hi Gliko

An excellant skin. It works well on my old HP IPAQ 2210 ppc, which isn't always the case with some of other peoples skins due to out of memory crashes. Just a couple of suggestions and a possible bug to report

(1) In 240 x 320 portrait mode, the initial red animated address indicator on the screen that is shown after selecting a possible address/favourite/POI using the 'find' button is not central to the map display, it is only central to the pocket pc's entire screen, and hence is only barely visible unless you drag the screen with the stylus. This does not occur in landscape mode on my device. To show this better I have uploaded a couple of screen shots in both portrait and landscape showing the problem at http://rapidshare.com/files/156140740/screenshot.jpg.html

(by the way, the end of the above rapidshare link is

screenshot.jpg.html

The preview mode of this blog showed that the end of the address might get cut-off)

(2) It is not always easy to read the altitude label if it is infront of a background area of white, or almost white in colour. The 0m altitude on the 320 x 240 screen shot on your http://ttskin.dtdns.net website shows this to a certain extent but is more obvious on an actual pocket pc in bright light driving conditions. One suggestion would be to increase the thickness of the black outline of this text, or maybe even have a darker transparent section around it. On a secondry note, would it be possible to have the altitude always being displayed as opposed to only when a route has been planed. Sometimes it's just nice to see what altitude you're at when you're just driving in mountainous areas without a planned route.

thanks for yout time, and a great job

Hi Gliko !!
Is there a place on your skin (like with Tomtom) where the user can touch so that the last guidance announce is played again ?
(Might be helpfuul if not well understood the first time).
If not, could be in your Todo list.
Regards and congratulations.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the remark of "zouluynes": a touch to let the last guidance announce play again, like in TT.

This skin is working perfectly on a Cartrek 200.
thanks for the great job.

First of all I think a shortcut for POIs on active route is one of the best. I proposed some ideas before and I need your some kind of todo list to know do I need to repeat some request or not.

Hi GlikoGliko, your skin is superb! What about support for version 8.3.x.x? (for example 8.3.1.57021)

Hi Gliko...
I m fan since start yur skin...
I ve updated igo iGO8 to 8.3.1 57021... I ve lost TTS and Your Skin Capacity...

1 - Request Update skin with new NNG...
2 - Add 480x800 Resolutions
3 - new option like "repeat action" or "find POI quickly" must be a good solution to improvment skin...
4 - Don't Stop, you rocks...

Gliko Gliko said...

I still did not upgrade to 8.3.x. I read somewhere it is not fully compatible with 8.0.x.

I have to test it before understanding how to move the skin.

LeSScro said...

Ok, Gliko...
Need test to recreate UI command...
I think new line command have been entered by NNG...

I find a skin in 320x240 Named IconX = Not tested... If you want link to show say me...

Hi Gliko,
i love your TTskin very much.

Actually i miss only one thing:
It is not possible in the skin in the 3d-view to turn it down that i can see the horizon, like in other skins. I guess this are simple entries in a text file. But i can't find it.

To improve your skin it would be nice, if you could add the pictures from tomtom from the version 8. I tried it by myself, but i couldn't find out the RGB Color for transparency.

Also i found a bug. Sometimes (i did'n fid out the right sequenze) if i go into the route simulation and simulate a route and after stopping the route it is not possible to go back to the main screen with the left arrow.
So i have to reboot the PPC.

No need to restart... Push long time button (x2 or x3) then first interface go back then return to map view...

Could you please make it compatible with version
v8.3.1.57021 (Sep 25 2008)?

Hi,
one question, regarding the arrows for the lane guidance. This works good for the day view. Big and TomTom like. But if I'm in the night view i see other pictures and very smaller.

Please help. How can i see also these pictures at night view.

Hi Glinko - Great Work!

Just a couple of constructive ideas :

1 - once you get going in navigation mode, it's very difficult to see what the road does ahead, sticking to a narrow angle from above. See the difference for example with Dimka v1.5.9

2 - perhaps you could match the advanced searching options as well, N.B. Direct POI name search and home button (again, available with Dimka)

I do prefer your TT Skin as it is very straight forward and I am used to using a TomTom.
Dimka and other skins are a little complicated and difficult to see whilst navigating.

Keep up the excellent work!

Ciao,
Great work and thanks for your Skin.
I just bought a Samsung Omnia and I will miss your skin for sure.
If you plan some day to expand your skin resolution, that would be great!
Take care.

Hello Glikogliko (from Zephir)

I'm glad you find on this blog since you can not find more about PPC Warez.
I totally agree with you design your skin clear and functional.
It is the only skin which I like because it totally correct defects iGO.
Seriously it is compatible with the latest version of Igo (8.3.1.57021).

Beautiful skin! Is it possible to get some bigger lane letters!! On a small device the names of the roads are difficult to see.

Hi Gliko,

Thanks for your great skin!!
I hope that you will make it work in IGO versions 8.3xxx
the new features are verry nice, but I only will use it if you make your skin compatible with it!

Hi.Glikogliko!!!The only thing that your skin is missing right now is the 2D/3D button toggle on the map screen.I think it was an error for you to remove it.At least you could add the possibility to hide that button if someone doesn't like it,but personaly i find it extremely usefull. There are situations when you need to see the map in 2D then to imediately change in 3D view. Now it's difficult to do that without that button on the map screen. Please find a solution!!!Hope i'll get an answer.Ciao!!!

I use navNgo IGO 8 - 8.3.1.57021

I agree with Krotto's little comment about the battery issue

Thank you ......

Any chance of adding the multiple trip type selection screen (i.e. fast, easy, etc) to the igo 8.0 skin, that would help a lot since many of the 8.3 versions have too many bugs anyway. Cheers
